This series of 12 postcards features Ross Sinclair's Real Life and How to Live it in Auld Reekie which the artist created for Edinburgh Art Festival 2013. Within this work Sinclair uses the spaces of advertising and consumer culture to bring his own special brand of parley to the streets.
12,000 postcards were created as part of a series of lists distributed throughout the city - 3 billboards, 500 poster sites, 20,000 beer mats, 12,000 postcards, 1,000 badges, 500 bags, 15 signs, 1 banner and a limited edition 7". Within these lists Sinclair presents us with a range of different views of the city. Edinburgh's great architectural landmarks, famous writers, painters and poets all feature, alongside top tens drawn from popular culture - best Edinburgh bands, footballers and even a top ten Kings and Queens (out of a total of 50).
