Overview

Sister event to Art Late; Art Early offers family-focused, morning tours of festival venues with creative activities and refreshments along the way.
Suitable for adults and children of all ages.

This year’s first Art Early begins at Talbot Rice Gallery to explore Samson Young’s impossible musical instruments, colourful scores and, unruly compositions for imagined instruments. We will walk from Talbot Rice up to Collective on Calton Hill, recording sounds along the way and imagining what music the city might make. At Collective, we’ll have refreshments and watch the video work of artist Helen McCrorie who documents the takeover of a derelict site for a children’s play space. Taking inspiration from both exhibitions, we will make mobile costume-sculptures in the beautiful surroundings of the gallery.

All materials included. Booking required.
Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
