Lead by Juliana Capes and Alice Betts, Edinburgh Art Festival’s Audio Described Tour & Workshop for the visually impaired begins at Stills Gallery on Cockburn Street with the photographer Cindy Sherman’s exhibition Early Works, 1975 - 80.
From here we will walk up to the Institut Français d’Écosse on West Parliament Square, where we will explore Sriwhana Spong’s installation and video work commissioned for the festival; Castle-Crystal. After this, we’ll head across the square to see another commission; Nathan Coley’s The Future is Inside Us, It’s Not Somewhere Else, installed in the historic Parliament Hall.
A lunch break will allow us plenty of time to eat, chat, and browse the Edinburgh Art Festival Kiosk at Institut Français d’Écosse, refreshing us for the afternoon’s workshop. The workshop will include short readings relating to the exhibitions and hands-on making to explore the idea within Sriwhana Spong’s work of creating interior chambers; an architecture of expression, stories and identities. This event offers portable hearing loops and is wheelchair accessible.Book tickets
