Effervescent! is a participatory performance by Katucha Bento exploring embodiment, memory, and our human-nature relation, grounded in Black feminist dreaming. Rooted in the idea of the body as a living archive, the work invites participants to reflect on the crossroads between human, body, and nature: a space where personal and ancestral histories meet and unfold together.
Through guided reflection, movement, sound, stillness, and collective presence, the performance asks: where do we meet anti-racism within ourselves and each other? What does it mean to embody anti-racism beyond language alone? In what gestures, rhythms, silences, or acts of care can solidarity, courage, discomfort, and joy emerge?
This iteration unfolds in dialogue with poetry and music, a responsive environment of care and possibility, where every participant’s presence contributes to a collective symphony. Effervescent! asks: what starts to bubble and pop into presence when we listen to our bodies, our ancestors, and the land together?

The performance is part of EAF’s ongoing programme around Más Arte Más Accion’s Around a Tree installation bringing artists, scientists, and audiences together to explore human–plant interconnections and biodiversity loss.
