Level Up is a social gathering celebrating the life and legacy of Sandra George through music, movement, food, and collective joy. Inspired by George’s community-rooted philosophy, “Stop making assumptions about people / Start from the level people are based”, the evening creates space for connection, togetherness, release, and highlights why being in spaces with good vibes levels you up.
Sandra George was a Black social-documentary photographer, youth worker, and community organiser whose work centred care, creativity, and empowerment within Craigmillar. Presented in collaboration with Craigmillar Now and City Art Centre, Level Up brings her archive and ethos into the present through an evening of celebration, sound, and community gathering. Through music, dance, and collective presence, the event reflects George’s belief that art and community have the power to uplift and transform, while celebrating joy as a vital form of care, resistance, and connection.
DJ Lineup:
CC TIME: CC invites you to experience a musical journey rooted in reflection and soul. Her style blends the hopeless romanticism of 70s–90s R&B and Soul with the nostalgia of a 2010s college fantasy and the vibrant disco-infused R&B of the 2020s. Her sets are filled with an endless giddiness that makes you feel like dancing in the street or squealing in your bedroom waiting for that phone call. In the words of DJ legend Gemma Cairney, she is a selector.
LUCKYBABE: Born of Guyanese and Irish roots in the Scottish Highlands, LuckyBabe is a DJ whose sets blend deep feeling with high-impact energy. A resident of PonyBoy and Kin.x, and co-founder of gullygully, and Serve!, she brings together boldness, emotion, and sonic precision on every dance floor. Classically trained on the recorder, her musicality runs through every mix.
RIA: Ria is an Edinburgh based DJ and multi-hyphenate artist, from South London. A resident of Femmergy, she is known for her mixes that feature groovy riddims, heavy on percussion, catchy basslines and a fun remix selection. Weaving in some Baile Funk, Afro House and an old school R&B or Hip Hop edit or two expect lots of energy and lots of heat!
SIMBA: Simba is an Edinburgh-based DJ and creative multi-hyphenate playing for the queers, the chronically online and the aunties who know every word to My Neck My Back. Glossy nostalgia, pussy poppin’, main character fuel. Runway or dancefloor, you decide. Known to serve a look with a soundtrack to match, Simba spins sounds for the body, the brains and the bad bitches.

Travelling to the venue
Busses from central Edinburgh include the 30 regular service (every 12 minutes, from South Bridge to Queen Margaret University), and the X6 (once every hour, from Waterloo Place to Haddington).

ScotRail train service to Newcraighall runs every half an hour from Edinburgh Waverley takes 14 minutes. There is then a 16 minute walk from the train station to Craigmillar Now.
Travelling from the venue
The 30 bus from Fort Kinnaird travelling back to central Edinburgh includes services at 22:12, 22:32, 22:52, 23:12 and 23:32 to South Bridge. This is the only services leaving directly from Fort Kinnaird, so please ensure you plan your travel.
The 4 bus from Milton Link is a 15 minute walk from Craigmillar Now, and leaves at 22:14, 22:44 and 23:14 to Princes St. The X4 bus from Milton Link leaves at 22:14.

ScotRail train service from Newcraighall to Edinburgh Waverley leaves at 21:59, 23:03 and 00:07. This is a 16 minute walk from Craigmillar Now, and are the last services of the evening.

To support attendees to feel as safe as possible travelling to and from this event, we are offering travel stipends of up to £15 to cover the cost of tram, bus, or solo/shared taxi travel.
If you are an attendee and travelling via tram, bus, or taxi feels like a safer option for you, this stipend is available no questions asked. Where possible, please travel together with others. Please hold onto your receipt of travel; EAF will be in touch with attendees after the event to organise reimbursement.
