we are fragments / scattered in the folds / tracing memories across fault lines
Join Decolonising the Outdoors and EAF to celebrate the launch of new artist book Tectonics. As part of their commission for EAF25, artist Aileen Angsutorn Lees explored our connections to the outdoors and how our surroundings affect what our bodies carry. This 18-month project comprised visual artwork, research, workshops and community engagement.
How do we move away from the margins? What does it mean to reclaim the outdoors?
Layering the past, present and future, Tectonics is an archive where voices converge. The artist weaves their writing and artwork with community voices and historical texts. Across 35 hand-bound, riso and screen-printed pages, narratives are interrogated; our stories held.
The launch includes readings on the theme of reclamation, as well as an opportunity for attendees to add an additional, personal page to their book – creating their own ‘tectonic plate’ in response to prompts.
Books will be available to buy on the night.
