River sounds, rave beats and folk singing resonate within Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop’s Beacon Tower, in this new sound installation by artist Kate Power. The installation foregrounds listening as a bodily practice that moves across skin, bone, fluid and atmosphere. Power’s research explores how sound is sensed through the body and how shared experiences of vibration and rhythm bring bodies into relation. Her work considers listening as a somatic practice shaped by attention, environment, and the thresholds of what can be heard. The work was developed during a residency exchange with Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop’s partners in Quebec, Fonderie Darling and Gare de Matapédia, and Hospitalfield in the UK.
